Social Listening: The Houston Astros and Their Incompetent Social Media Strategy – Still Carrying the Cheater's Stigma

Astros vs. all y'all... 🤷‍♂️ Well *sigh* the Houston Astros carved out a seemingly legit season where they hoisted the World Series Commissioner’s Trophy, only 5 years after being found guilty of a major sign-stealing scandal. The team used advanced video relay technology to steal signs from the opposing team’s catcher and then relayed that sign back to the batter by using a trashcan as percussive communication. They had real-time video streams onto screens in their dugouts. They were fined $5 Million dollars by the League Office. No players lost any playing time. Imagine being a diehard Yankees fan and having to stomach the 4-3 ALCS loss in 2017, only to find out later that your opponent had an unfair advantage. The amount of malice and loathing would possibly be insurmountable. I am entranced at how the Astros managed to not only win it all last year, but to not give a fuck while doing it. Marketing in the News: Jolly Roger Telephone Company Gives Unsolicited Callers a Taste of Their Own Medicine 😈📞

I don't know what the deal was in 2019 but it seems like I was receiving a TON of robo-calls on my phone. The caller ID said "Unknown Caller" and I usually didn't answer it. But it was so persistent that those automated telemarketers found a way to get through to me anyways. Maybe it was that my phone was on a Bluetooth enabled system or I had ear buds in. I clumsily press the small touch area on my sweat-covered ear bud to try and deny the call. It answers...*Robot Voice* We would like to speak to you about your car's extended warranty! .....Umm I'm gonna scream.  Even worse, I had to calm my grandmother (who lives in another city) down after a scam caller who was claiming to be me. He called and started out by saying "Grandma?" and then she said my name. He then said "Yes I am Chris. I am in a jail cell

Hello!✋  In this flagship post in my Blogosphere, I will introduce myself. Chris here, nice to meet you.      I am an accounting major at LB and I have worked in a homeowner’s insurance claims office for the past couple years of my career. I have decided that I would like to upskill my repertoire and so here I am!  I have taken a basic-level accounting course and I enjoyed it. I also have taken a career personality test at Truity.com and accounting was a match for my personality. I realized I like the analytical side of things after taking a Coursera class about baseball statistics.      I am passionate about Red Sox baseball and I am also on my way to becoming a first-time parent. I have been to Fenway Park and it was indeed a beautiful experience. I enjoy hiking with my wife and our Boston Terrier named Duke. We hiked Spencer’s Butte last weekend and he really liked chasing the ground squirrels. I highly recommend hiking there, it was great! I look forward to reading other's blo
